Our Model of Care
Midwifery care at Palmetto Birth is relationship-based, client-led, and grounded in informed consent.
We believe care is most effective when trust, time, and education are prioritized at every stage.
Our model honors autonomy while maintaining clear safety standards and evidence-based practice.
Relationship-Based Care
We build ongoing relationships
with the families we serve. Visits are unhurried, questions are welcomed, and care is continuous from pregnancy through postpartum.
Informed & Consent-Centered
Every aspect of care is explained.
Decisions are made together, and nothing is done without understanding and consent.
Safety, Preparation & Collaboration
We practice within scope, maintain emergency preparedness, and collaborate with other healthcare providers when consultation or transfer is indicated.
Planned Homebirth Care
Planned homebirth midwifery care
is an option for families who desire personalized, evidence-based care in the comfort of their home.
At Palmetto Birth, homebirth is approached with intention, preparation,
and clear safety standards.

We support physiological birth
while maintaining readiness
to respond if needs change.
What Homebirth Care Includes
• Comprehensive prenatal screening and preparation
• Ongoing risk assessment throughout pregnancy
• Labor and birth support in your home
• Emergency preparedness and clear transfer plans
• Immediate newborn assessment
• Postpartum monitoring and follow-up
Safety & Eligibility
Homebirth care is appropriate for many, but not all, pregnancies. Eligibility is determined through consultation, health history review, and ongoing assessment throughout care.
If higher-risk conditions arise, we discuss options, consult as needed, and support transitions to higher levels of care when indicated.
Begin With a Consultation
All midwifery services at
Palmetto Birth begin with a consultation. This allows us to learn about your needs, review your health history, discuss care options, and ensure alignment and safety.
Consultations are a space to ask questions, explore whether midwifery care is the right fit, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
During your consultation, we will:
• Review your goals, questions, and health history
• Discuss care options
including homebirth and ongoing midwifery care
• Outline next steps
if we are a good fit
We are committed to expanding access to midwifery care through education, advocacy, and community support. Financial assistance and scholarship opportunities may be available through our nonprofit initiatives.
